Guyegwoni: Cherokee Time of the Ripe Corn Moon

The New Echota Historic Site is offering a day long program, “Guyegwoni: Cherokee Time of the Ripe Corn Moon” on July 30, 2011 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Staff, volunteer interpreters and New Echota members will all be there for this wonderful time of year in celebration and thankfulness for the readiness of the corn.

Pack a lunch and plan to spend a fun filled day at the New Echota Historic Site in Calhoun, Georgia. $4 – $6. For more information, call 706-624-1321.

Christmas Candlelight Tour

Christmas CandleSee the holidays at the Cherokee capital in a whole new light…candlelight. Bring a candle, flashlight or lantern and visit the New Echota Historic Site on December 4, 2010 from 6 PM to 9:30 PM to enjoy the Christmas holidays Cherokee style. There will be Christmas carols, hot apple cider, and hand made decorations typical of the 1820s, as you tour the Cherokee capital by candlelight.

Make sure you wear warm clothing and comfortable shoes so you will be comfortable throughout the tour. Oh, and don’t forget your candle, flashlight or lantern. Call 706-624-1321 for more information and details.
