Native American Film Festival

The New Echota Historic Site will be hosting a Native American Film Festival on February 26, 2011 from 10 AM to 4 PM. Enjoy a day at New Echota learning Cherokee and other Native American cultures and history through a series of films, both shorts and feature films, and documentaries.
Admission is $4 – $6 and includes admission to the museum and a self guided tour of the historic buildings on the site. Call 706-624-1321 for more information and details.

Mardi Gras Night Fundraiser

“Let the Good Times Roll” as you celebrate Mardi Gras on February 26, 2011 from 7 PM to 11 PM at the Harris Arts Center in Calhoun, Georgia. This party and fundraiser is being hosted by the Harris Arts Center and the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals.
Don your best Mardi Gras masks and attire and come out to enjoy a catered buffet, drinks, entertainment by Monte Carlo Productions and great Jazz music by the Applescraps Band. There will be a raffle and a costume contest and a photographer will be on site taking photos to commemorate the evening.
Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at the Harris Arts Center 706-629-2599 or the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce 706-625-3200. Proceeds from the evening will go to help both the Gordon County Chamber of Commerce Young Professionals and the Harris Arts Center. Make your reservations today!

Festival of Trees

The Festival of Trees at the Harris Arts Center from November 1, 2010 to December 12, 2010 is a delightful display of Christmas trees, wreaths, and centerpieces all beautifully decorated in themes from traditional to whimsical and all are being offered in a silent auction. In addition to the Festival of Trees is a Holiday Artists Market which showcases arts and crafts created by many local and regional artists. There is a fine selection of paintings, pottery, baskets, and jewelry plus much more. You are sure to be able to get some of your Christmas shopping taken care of with something beautifully crafted.

Monday 10 AM – 6 PM
Tuesday through Thursday 10 AM – 4 PM
Friday 10 AM – 2 PM
Saturday 10 AM – 2 PM (Only during Festival of Trees)

Harvest Fest

As the weather cools and the leaves change, so much fun can be had in downtown Calhoun, Georgia on October 30, 2010 from 10 AM to 4 PM with the annual Harvest Festival. There will be pony rides, hay rides, a pie eating contest, games, music, and so much more! The kids will want to dress in their favorite costume as there will be judging at 2 PM. Deadly Dinner

High School Poetry Slam

All high school students…bring your poetry whether it’s Rap, Rhyme, or Freestyle to the Harris Arts Center on September 25, 2010 from 7 PM to 9 PM for a chance to win some cash! All you have to do is show up, put your $1 entry fee into the pot, read your poetry, and whoever wins at the end of the evening will take the pot home. Make sure to register at the door that night if you plan on reading your poetry. There will be coffee and snacks available.
